The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia begins their 2004-2005 season with back-to-back concerts in the Kimmel Center on Sunday and Monday, September 26th & 27th, and Sunday and Monday October 4th and 5th. The first concert featured new Music Director Ignat Solzhenitsyn conducting, with Steven Isserlis on cello. |

The following weekend, October 4th and 5th, The Chamber Orchestra performed again in the Perelman Theater. This concert was the first in their “Baroque Perspectives” series, this one specifically focusing on Handel, although the concert also included works by Mendelssohn, Barber, and Webern. Works performed: HANDEL—Concerto grosso in D Major, Op. 6, No. 5 MENDELSSOHN—Sinfonia No. 12 in G Minor BARBER—Adagio for Strings, Op. 11 WEBERN—Five Movements, Op. 5 HANDEL—Concerto grosso in G Minor, Op. 6, No. 6 For more information on the Chamber Orchestra, feel free to visit their website. |
