Pipa soloist Wu Man performs at the Kimmel Center with percussionist Robert Schulz |
|
This season’s Fresh Ink concerts started off on a wonderful note thanks to internationally renown pipa soloist Wu Man, who performs works by Chen Yi, Xi Yang Xiao Gu, Shi Mian Mai Fu, Eric Moe, and others at the Perelman Theater. Wu Man is internationally known for being “the artist most responsible for bringing the pipa to the Western world” (Los Angeles Times). Besides being recognized as an outstanding exponent of the traditional repertoire, Wu Man is a leading interpreter of contemporary pipa music by today’s most prominent composers. Accompanied in this concert by percussionist Robert Schulz, Wu Man here undertakes her Philadelphia solo debut. For those of you that missed this one-of-a-kind event last week, this concert will be aired on WRTI 90.1 FM this Sunday, November 20th at 3:00pm. Outside of the Philadelphia area, you can also tune into this concert at www.wrti.org. |
