CARMINA BURANA, CANTATA PROFANA - AN EVENING OF PASSION The Mendelssohn Club in Verizon Hall also featuring The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia & The Pennsylvania Youth Chorale Sunday, March 28th, 2004 The Mendelssohn Club performed last weekend to a sold-out audience in Verizon Hall in the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts. This 130th Anniversary concert began with the world premiere of Jay Krush's Fanfare Felix, followed by Bela Bartok's Cantata Profana, and capped off with the evocative and powerful Carmina Burana, by Carl Orff. Alan Harler conducted this stunning performance, strengthened by marvelous vocals from Carol Chickering, soprano, Glenn Siebert, tenor, and Robert Orth, baritone. Weston Sound recorded both the rehearsal and Sunday night's performance with a total of 14 microphones on the various choral and orchestral performers, captured directly to multi-track hard disk for mixing and mastering back at Weston Sound's studio. Congratulations to the Mendelssohn Club for their wonderful performance! |
